Regenerative Culture is a culture that generates life from everything it produces, acting interdependent and in partnership with the natural world.
At Regenerative Culture we research, design, and coach systems for the emerging regenerative culture. We lead people through the process. We are fascinated in exploring and experimenting with design for living in ways that abundantly meet human needs while prioritizing the regeneration of the Earth's natural systems. We hold that the next twenty years will be nothing like the last twenty years. Humanity has entered a time where rapid prototyping and consciously co-created collaborations are essential for sustaining all existing life on Earth. With this imperative we have dedicated ourselves to assist communities in transition to a more sustainable and regenerative culture. From our perspective a community is any group of people who are working together with a common mission or purpose, or have the potential to do so. Some examples of communities are a village, a suburb, a neighborhood in a city, a company, or division within a company, a club, a school, an organization, an association or several people choosing to live together. We believe that all humans have innate capacity as innovative and creative designers. We believe that it is necessary for us to design our way of life and our communities consciously. From this moment on, any community design must respect and respond to current global conditions. The primary, pressing ones are the collapsing global economy, catastrophic climate change and the rapid depletion of cheap oil. For an effective response there are five key systems that need to be integrated for a community to be regenerative and resilient. These are social design, economic design, ecological design, re-visioning our beliefs, and leadership. When each one of these interrelated systems are considered and designed from a regenerative culture perspective, the view is of a community that is socially just, economically viable, ecologically regenerative, and spiritually fulfilling - where every member is called forth with purpose to make their leadership contribution. We have noticed that there is a lot of talk, and not a lot of action. There are many concepts, programs and even services that exist and point humanity towards sustainability. And yet the concepts remain as concepts, the programs only offer one or two of the essential systems, and the services stop at sustainability. This coupled with the fact that for the past forty years most of us in North America have experienced a deep severing of our relationship with nature, along with a loss of practical skills. Up until now, we have had a tendency to focus on putting ideas into action that maximize profits while destroying the planet and devastating peoples both at home and globally. Short-term thinking has not served us well. To galvanize action, we have designed a system of gather-ins. Gather-ins are where people come together to create a collective body of knowledge, supported by a dynamic and compassionate experiential framework. The system opens the space for deepening relationships and trust which are necessary for the well-being and vibrancy of any community. The gather-in is a place where you can be held as you go through the most profound journey of your life.
